Hu is a protégé of Mei Bao-jiu, son of Maestro Mei Lang-fan.  As the only male and third-generation successor of Mei stylistic school, Hu’s flawless interpretation of the female (qing-yi) roles has earned him international fame.  Hu has received numerous prestigious awards throughout his career.  His most memorable performances include opera classics “Farewell My Concubine” at the Kodak Theatre in 2008 and “The Drunken Beauty,” a special performance for President Obama during his visit in November 2009.  Hu will be featured in “Xi Shi, The Patriotic Beauty” and “Mu Guiying Takes Command” on April 18; “Blessing of a Goddess” and “The Grand Ceremony” on April 25.
